Hi, I'm JoAnne Lenart-Weary, The original One Day Decorator. I started offering this service back in early 80's, when I found many of my clients didn't really need lots of new things but simply hadn't utilized what they had effectively. What began as an off-shoot of my design approach, soon became a requested service. When someone asked me what to call this service, One Day Decorating made sense.
One Day Decorating is built on a simple belief: you don’t need weeks, thousands of dollars, or a degree in design to love your home. You just need a clear plan and the confidence to take action. As The One Day Decorator™, I have spent over 40 years helping people transform rooms in a single day — proving that big results can come from simple steps.
Let me be your Decorating Bestie and let's have fun.
What exactly does luxe mean? in my mind, it isn't necessarily the amount of money you throw at an item, but the quality of the maker and the materials used. Whether you are purchasing home decor or fashion, there are often tell-tale signs of quality of an item. .But achieving that high-end look can often come with a high price tag. But great design is as much about creativity, resourcefulness, and smart shopping. Your room can send a luxe vibe while saving money. Here are some tips to get you started:
Mix High and Low-End Pieces Don't be afraid to mix high-end pieces with affordable finds. A high-end statement piece, such as a designer sofa or a luxurious rug, can make all the difference in elevating the look of your space. Spend your money first on the items that will get the most use, like your sofa. Pair it with decor that fits your budget, such as throw pillows, curtains, or decor items, to continue the look of luxe style .Look for tags and makers' marks so you can research the quality of the items you are considering.
Don't be afraid to DIY- It's not only a fun and rewarding activity, but can save you a ton of money. Get creative with DIY projects, such as painting old furniture, creating your own wall art, or upcycling thrift store finds. The possibilities are endless, and the end result will be a unique and personalized decor that reflects your style and personality. They key to success...it should never appear DIY.
Shop Second-Hand and Vintage-Thrift stores, flea markets, and vintage shops are treasure troves for affordable decor finds. Keep an open mind and be willing to do a little digging, and you might be surprised at what you can find. Educate yourself in advance so you know the signs of quality or the types of things that will elevate your space. Look for unique vintage pieces, such as a mid-century modern lamp or a retro vase, that can add character and charm to your space.
Focus on Textures and Materials-One of the easiest ways to create a luxe look is to focus on textures and materials. Choose fabrics, such as velvet, silk, or faux fur, that have a luxurious feel and add dimension and depth to your decor. Opt for metallic accents, such as brass or gold, to add a touch of glamour and sophistication.
Embrace Minimalism Less is often more when it comes to creating a luxe look. Embrace minimalism and keep your decor simple and streamlined. Choose a few statement pieces that will anchor the room and let them shine, rather than overcrowding the space with too many decorative items.
By following these tips, you can create a luxe look for less and transform your space into a stylish and inviting sanctuary. Happy decorating!
